Shauna Gaye Catherine Victoria Hathaway Clark

April 3, 1977 – October 28, 2023

Shauna Gaye Catherine Victoria Hathaway Clark passed away early on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Dr. P. Phillips Hospital in Orlando, Florida after a sudden illness. She was born to Albert and Dorothy (Brake) Hathaway in Bryan, Texas on April 3, 1977. Shauna was the youngest of eight children. After graduating from Brewer High School in White Settlement, TX, she attended several Texas Universities following her mentor while pursuing a degree in music education. She was active in Alpha Phi Omega, a co-ed service fraternity, throughout her college career. This would lead her to meet her husband, Roger Clark, at the 1998 Alpha Phi Omega National Convention in Minneapolis, MN. Soon after she moved to Davis, CA to be with Roger, and they were married on October 5, 2002.

True to her experience in Alpha Phi Omega, Shauna was dedicated to community service. She held jobs in non-profits such as the American Diabetes Association, Make-a-Wish Foundation, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, assisting with various events held by the organizations while recruiting and managing volunteers.

Seeing a need for Girl Scout Leaders in her West Sacramento, CA community, Shauna volunteered to be a troop leader with the Girl Scouts of Heart of Central California council, even though they had no children of their own. She was a troop leader for many years helping many girls, including leading two different troops simultaneously at one point. She also led the district to more than double the number of girl scout troops to better serve the needs of the community.

Roger and Shauna moved to Florida in 2011 to be closer to Roger’s family. They initially lived in the Tampa area, and then in 2012 moved to the Orlando area. In Orlando Shauna flourished, attending the University of Central Florida’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management and graduating Magna Cum Laude with Bachelor degrees in both Event Management and Hospitality Management in 2014. Shauna spent the last 10 years working in the convention and hospitality industry including 6 years at Walt Disney World Resort.

Most of Shauna’s free time was consumed with her passion for the fiber arts. Shauna loved to crochet, knit, spin yarn, and weave. Not only did Shauna make a great number of friends within the fiber arts community, she combined her passions for event planning and community service by organizing conventions for and serving on the board of directors for Orlando Distaff Day and Florida Tropical Weavers Guild. Shauna helped lead both conferences through the challenges of COVID by moving the conventions online, as well as to new venues once in-person conventions were possible again.

Shauna is survived by her husband, Roger Clark; her much-loved cats Kismet, Nyx, Purrs Brosnan, dog Mushu; and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations to Make A Wish, in Shauna’s memory. Shauna worked for Make A Wish for a while; she loved coordinating volunteers and facilitating wishes.
